When his daughter Frieda was killed by Grisha Yeager, Rod desperately tried to preserve the Reiss bloodline's control of the Founding Titan. He manipulated Historia into confronting her heritage and attempted to force her to eat Eren and inherit the Founding Titan. When this failed, Rod licked a Titan serum from the floor and transformed into an immense, deformed Pure Titan over 120 meters tall — the largest Pure Titan ever seen. His grotesque transformation and subsequent destruction of the Orvud District highlighted the Reiss family's corruption and abuse of power.
